The ecological condition of soil and use of soil and land resources considered as the most important factors of development of Far East region. The review of scientific papers, documents, official Government reports on the environmental situation in the Russian Federation, reports on the environmental situation and use of land in separate regions of the far Eastern Federal district. It’s shown that the utilitarian approach to nature of soil and land resources leads to an increase in the number of lost and degraded land.
